I am Leslie Knope. Parks and Rec was the first series that I binge watched in the pandemic. I binge watch a lot of series while making Brart. Below is a brief video of the process of this protrait.
Amy Poehler Brart - YouTube I do have a background in theatrical painting, so I have a certain amount of training in paint color theory. Bra colors are interesting. I have a TON of white, black, and beige, with a fair amount of reds, pinks, blues, purples and patterns. Yellow, green and orange are hard to come by. Even when you get colors, you are still working with the colors that are available to you, you can't mix and tweak colors the way you can with paint. I waited two years for a yellow bra to do someone blonde. Yes, TWO YEARS. If you have a yellow or orange bra, send it to me. I have project ideas waiting. I felt some pressure making this hair knowing that I had waited this long for this color. In college my professor had a term 'painter's panic,' meaning that part way through a project, you panic realizing how much work you have to do to still make something look good before deadline. I had some mild brart panic halfway through her hair. I'm also mildly obsessed with getting on the show Making It with Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman. Below is a link to my Season Three audition video where I said I'd make a portrait of Amy and Nick if I got on the show. Now that I made Amy's brart portrait, they have to cast me, right? If you are a woman in Minnesota you should know Clara Ueland. A direct quote from the Minnesota Historical Society’s website: “Ueland’s prowess as a leader earned her great respect among her peers. With strategy and tact, she helped steer Minnesota suffragists through the final hurdles to passing the 19th Amendment. After its passage, Ueland oversaw the transition of the MWSA to the Minnesota League of Women Voters.”
Clara Ueland | Minnesota Historical Society (mnhs.org) This is also my first post as an official Bra Recycling Ambassador for The Bra Recyclers. If you send me your unused bras, I will make sure they are turned into art, recycled, or given to women who are in need of bras. The Bra Recyclers have helped donate 4 million bras to over 100 non-profits around the world. Please send me your unused bras to help create a circular economy and keep bras out of landfills. You can also send your bras directly to The Bra Recyclers to be sent directly for recycling/distribution. Someday, I’d like to have a gallery of my brart and host a bra drive!
